Presently women officers are being inducted into Corps of Engineers, Corps of Signals, Army Air Defence Corps, Army Aviation Corps, Intelligence Corps, Army Service Corps (ASC), Army Ordnance Corps (AOC), Army Education Corps (AEC), Judge Advocate General Branch (JAG), Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME), Army Medical Corps(AMC), Army Dental Corps and Military Nursing Service(MNS) of the Army.
Now they will also be inducted into the Regiment of Artillery and Remount and Veterinary Corps(RVC) as per the recent decisions.
Artillery is a combat arm of the Army and is the second largest in size after the Infantry. The Artillery Regiment holds various caliber of guns, surface to surface missiles, tracked(self propelled) guns, mortars, rocket launchers, surveillance and target acquisition equipment and unmanned aerial platforms.
The RVC is responsible for animal based logistics and operational support to combat teams. The Corps has divergent role which involves breeding, rearing, training the animals (horses, mules, dogs etc) for the Army, their health management, treatment, immunization and also tactically employing them for the military purposes
